November 2016 Around Town

September 11, 2001 is a day forever stamped in history around the world; yet in Cape Coral Florida, this day will have special meaning to a local injured veteran and his wife.  Aubuchon Homes handed the keys to local Veteran Sgt. Corey Kent to their new, fully accessible “Smart” Home on 9/11 at 9:59 am, the exact time of the 2nd World Trade Center Tower collapse.

Gary Aubuchon, President, Aubuchon Homes, the custom home division of Aubuchon Team of Companies, partnered with Tunnel2Tower, a New York 9/11 nonprofit organization to build a beautiful fully customized, iPad-operated, “Smart Home”.  This would be the home where Corey and Brandy could raise a family and spend the rest of their lives together.

On the morning of 9/11, Corey and his wife Brandy, were treated to a motorcade provided by the Cape Coral Police Department, Cape Coral Fire Department and Patriot Guard Riders. The event included Corey and Brandy’s High school choir singing the National Anthem and a presentation of colors by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  At 9:59am, a huge American flag was removed from the front of the house and Corey and Brandy Kent were handed keys to their new Aubuchon home.

“Everything we could have asked for in this home is in there,” his wife, Brandy, said.  Aubuchon Homes’ design team worked closely with Corey and Brandy throughout the process ensuring they would receive everything they needed and wanted.

Aubuchon believes in giving back to the community and supports many local organizations such as Tunnel2Towers Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities SWFL, Make A Wish Foundation SWFL, Cape Coral Bike Ped, The Homeless Coalition, and Habitat for Humanity.  Aubuchon Team of Companies is located  at 4707 SE 9th Place, 33904, 239.542.1075,

You can expect great quality, fresh produce, welcoming vendors, and lots & lots of delicious foods every Saturday, from 8am-1pm, from Saturday, October 1st until May 13th in “Club Square” in downtown Cape Coral.

With over 120 vendors, the Cape Coral Farmers Market is filled with something for everyone, but our main feature each week is the area’s largest selection of fresh, local and healthy produce. The 20 produce vendors bring everything from local grown, nationally certified organic, hydroponic produce to native seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Quality is always our goal!

The Cape Coral Farmers Market is also filled with all the goodies that you expect at a market, like fresh baked breads and pastries, made- on- site guacamole, homemade jams, jellies, sauces, pickles, olives, fresh-cut flowers, native plants and trees, homemade organic dog treats, Gulf fresh seafood, wild caught Alaska Salmon, hand-made crafts, custom created jewelry and so much more.

The Cape Coral Farmers Market is an EBT/SNAP authorized market and, starting October 1st, also a Fresh Access Bucks authorized market, which doubles  EBT/SNAP dollars up to twenty dollars for Florida Grown produce and foods. We are also a pet-friendly market for friendly pets.
