Seniors Move Management Lessening the Burden of Change
“Compassion and Integrity is key,” states Sami Gravedoni.
She owns Sami-MED (Moving Easily Done) Services and helps seniors in Southwest Florida downsize, de-clutter, organize and move. She is a Senior Move Manager ® and keeps her client’s desires foremost in her priorities.
Sami is a member of National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM). She complies with their code of ethics including classes, licensing, insurance and bonding, which helps put the client and family at ease. NASMM members work across the United States, and abroad, if such a move is required.
Sami sought the Senior Move Management business after working with her spouse, Jim, owner of Frank and Sons Moving and Storage for 35 years and an Agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving a NASMM partner. Sami recalls one client, anxious and very stressed about moving “I noticed a visible shift in the woman’s attitude while I worked with her, she needed help”.
Sami coordinates with movers, communities and those involved to create an easy process. Sami and Jim work together seamlessly on local and long distance moves. Jim’s company offers local storage options. Sami is looking forward to her company growing in the next year, she will set very high standards including background screenings for her employees to see that her clients receive the service they deserve.
Sami, a central Florida native and only child, is a member of Cape Coral Women’s Counsel of Realtors and FemCity®. She believes in helping people with a hand-up. She was the Team Captain for this year’s Habitat For Humanity Women Build “Chicks with Hammers”. In May 2017, she rallied donations for local food banks. The Gravedonis exemplify teamwork in their personal lives, too, as a blended family since 2006 with six children.
A checklist she provides helps accomplish a timeline of goals and tasks, assisting her clients in the details. Ideally, Sami needs at least three months’ notice on the timeline. Realistically, she must fulfill client requirements on a much tighter schedule.
Sami’s dedication and energy exude confidence in her abilities. It’s evident in the way her entire face sparkles with joy, when speaking about her purpose, how much she cares for her clients.
“It’s a trip down memory lane, reminiscing over photographs and hearing stories shared by my clients. I especially love hearing them laugh,” she quips.
Other services Sami provides include transporting heirlooms, lining up assessors for sales, creating a floor plan for the smaller space, disposal of hazardous material, arranging pet care and overseeing moving day. She helps sort items into five groups for packing: keep, sell, donate, shred, trash. Most seniors downsize to a 1200 square foot (or less) home. Impressive is the attention to detail around items needed by the client during the move, all packed in a suitcase for ease of travel and transition.
When it’s time to make that move, or any part of it, keep Sami in mind. She will consult with you in your home, tour it and gather information about your needs. She’ll help you move smoothly. You can contact Sami at MoveManagementForSeniors.com or 239.707.5177
