In October, the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association and the Cape Coral Civic Association hosted a new twist on the traditional candidates forum. The Political Mythbusters Candidates Forum invited local, state and federal candidates to bust some political myths about Cape Coral, Lee County and Southwest Florida.
The Cape Coral Police Department participated in “Movember” during the month of November to help raise awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Officers who chose to participate were allowed to grow a mustache or goatee. Officers also donated money to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
During October, Cape Coral Police Department personnel showed their support for those affected by breast cancer. Officers were given the option to purchase pink badges and/or ID card lanyards in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of the proceeds from each badge and lanyard went directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Cape Cleaners hosted the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce's monthly Business After Hours event in September. Owners Dan and Loretta Puleio celebrated the opening of their new location—at 30 Hancock Bridge Parkway—with chamber members and guests.
